if AFG said no thanks to the Macquarie offer they obviously don't think the situation is as parlous as the media suggests. AFG has created this media speculation because of the information vacuum and they really ought to be more open with shareholders at this point in time. But perhaps disclosure prejudices their ability to do a deal - mind you incessant media negativity probably does the same.
