The problem isn't Internet Explorer, but the fact that you can't upgrade to version 9 or 10 while using Windows XP.
If you viewed the new site in an old firefox browser it would probably look like a dog's breakfast as well.
I viewed it in Internet Explorer 10 and had no problems, although I usually use Firefox due to the customisation with add-ons it allows.
