'Regardless, sites like facebook or any Australian site are not responsible for the impact they have on peoples lives. (get that into Labors head) The posters individually and collectively are responsible and the small moderator team cannot be expected to keep on top of it all, not should they have to bear the guilt that comes with such a burden'

I disagree, HC is a commercial organisation just like any other. Each business decides if and when they wish to take proactive action to maintain their 'values'.

I am a paying member of LinkedIn (most are free accounts) and they take their brand very seriously and weed out the spammers and close their account very quickly. Why would they do this - it's in their interests to keep as clean a site as possible.

What would be the commercial impact on HC advertisers if a story broke about a suicide with a note about being sucked in by the ramps and rat packs on HC?

If the mods started to hammer a few of the big posting threads then everyone would get he message very quickly.

IMO - HC has to accept some responsibility for the shocking inability in making sure the rules of posting are followed.
