Lihir waits a decade to do a corporate deal and the best they can find is Ballarat? If that is so, its a sad portrait of the gold sector. I like Ballarat, but not inside Lihir. I am unable to see how this deal can be accreative for Lihir shareholders in the short term. Ballarat requires a truck load of capital to realise the dream. I think former directors/CEO's of Lihir would be shaking their heads in dismay.

As to Ballarat. Well done. You got a premium and a bail out from what was looking like a nsty spot of bother.
