My congratulations to Tony Abbott.

At last a government that listens to the people, at least once anyway. The overwhelming majority of Australians wanted the racial discrimination act left alone and now Abbott has done that.

Of course I know they would much have preferred to dump it as their ideology dictates, however political expediency told them that they were on a hiding to nothing if they went ahead. Also, their government is in such bad odour with the general populace that they could ill afford to continue to alienate them.

The response of the usual renta righties here on HC shows just how out of touch they are with general public opinion. Their extreme views border on the pathological.
