Yes I read about this yesterday. It was a bit of a surprise to learn of an Imam holding such a belief.
However we don't know the full story. It could be due to rivalry between the branches of the faith.
The schools, I think, are mostly Sunni based and he is Shia.
Either way we don't need religious schools of any faith.
