The best part about holding physical gold is it takes away the urge to sell it when things look bad. I'm assuming that if we do see the markets tank, all assets will fall. The question is where does frightened money hide? Historically it flows into bonds, but you're better to have an even spread of gold, property, quality equities (that make money in tough times), and cash to take advantage of oversold assests. There are advantages and disadvantages to holding any asset, the only one that I refuse to hold is crypto, simply because it doesn't exist.
