no matter what form the consolidation takes, it would be a good idea to try to pay the debts off as soon as you can; if you can afford to do it, fortnightly repayment instead of monthly. By having to make repayment once every fortnight instead of once a month, it will help to put more discipline on your spending too.
Just a simple thought.
