Psychology is a funny thing isn't it? If you subscribe to the idea that this stock has been suppressed for some time now, and I do, then that is exactly what I would do as the major price catalyst horizon approaches - build a bigger wall. However, the bigger the wall, the bigger the rush when the dam wall breaks. The potential for a huge dividend is drawing ever-nearer. I suspect we will discover that outcome in the half yearly update due in January. I know we have guidance on the prerequisites for the consideration of said dividend, all of which are presumably being satisfied with exception of the POG. We may have had a bit of a helping hand in November with the final instalment of the hedgebook giving us 1000z at $2525 oz, keeping us close to the $2600 mark. Additionally, the POG is now recovering and has resumed the multi-month pattern, which now shows a failed break to both the bull and bear side. Interestingly the POG currently sits at a market inflection point, a break to the bull-side should see it at $1920usd (~$2600aud), or the bear-side a retest of $1765usd (~$2380aud).

I'm not convinced that the POG target is a "hard target" and is more of a guidance, but granted purely an opinion. If gold can stay around the current level, or north, I am banking that we will still get our dividend, with a rerate to accompany. A dividend of $0.0025+ at the interim will not go unnoticed. There is a large difference between expecting a rerate through the juggling of numbers or financial housekeeping (share register and debt respectively), and the realisation of bottom line performance in the form of a very decent dividend. An implied dividend yield of 20% (full year, fully diluted, unfranked) will herald in a new raft of investors, provided they hear of our story. Money talks.
