I agree mate! In the beta testing when the app was loaded with more gamification features a performer would be rewarded with far more points if the user shared their video on FB or Twitter compared to just voting for them.
I think that you have hit the nail on the head here. Many successful apps have adopted similar viral sharing techniques. They definitely work so I'm not sure why MSM dropped the feature. Perhaps it has something to do with maintaining a fair and transparent voting structure of only one vote per person because this is a competition.
