It comes down to a culture of not willing to invest in training people & the laziness of people not willing to re-skill.

Companies/governments cry out that they can't find the staff, their solution is import more people with those skills regardless as to whether it is a high skill or low skill job.
Look at the 'occupations in demand' list for an independent skilled permanent residency visa, some of them are a complete joke!

Governments are set on this 'Big Australia' programme & overly reliant on high property prices, that's why there is no push back on demands to import more people.

To get the housing supply/demand balance back would require zero migration for 5-10 years & result in stagnating or falling house prices over that period.
Will never happen, excuse who will build all the houses etc without migrants?
Inflation will go through the roof etc etc..

There are no easy short term solutions, only painful long term ones & Australian politicians have neither the courage or vision to deal with those.
