Was just stating facts, Pinto. Didn't say it was the optimum way to govern the necessity of a roof over one's head. Clearly, it is not. But I don't think we can blame homeowners for taking advantage of the tax laws with respect to their principal place of residence (PPR).
Quite the 'Catch 22,' given it would be political suicide for any government in power to add a profit tax to the PPR on top of onerous stamp duty costs.
