I don't think FLAG companies will be interested to buy zip. As you mentioned, they would just head to launch their own BNPL products. They should be able to launch a similar product like zip in a few months. Zip's user base is just tiny and not attractive compared to the user base of FLAG companies.
But I think Square's rivals might want to give it a go. Clearly, there will need to have some sort of consolidations in BNPL sector.
