The fact that there was a move already well underway to undermine the AWB and to allow US participation directly in our wheat industry has long bee the subject of heavy lobbying. As long as the AWB would be there they would have no entry to our markets and we were doing well.

This government has been the best money can buy and is a friend to one and all especially if they are rich powerful and not Australian.

The PM and all of government knew of AWB's methods of bribing. it is a cost of doing business everywhere Australia included. Ask the Singaporeans and Malaysians and the Chinese and they will tell you so.

The government allowed the scandal to go public. It was a means of putting some of the government's own allis in check and taking the heat off the Costello challenge and the damage of that issue.

The US will now control our wheat exports and our wheat fields. They will dictate prices, they will interrupt the purchase and sale of the stuff because we have no AWB anymore. At least if Howard gets his way.

mark Vaile did not achieve anything at all. Those corrupt despots sitting in Baghdad are merely playing to the tune of the US and acting as if outraged. many of them are former Saddam servants themselves.
