we don't know whether they are applying a constant choke on the flow.
Agent will possibly recall some testing that COP did on at least one of its early Live Oak wells where they monitored flows using different flow settings.
My theory is that they will want to maintain wellhead pressure so that the pressure differential between that in the well and that in the rock is not allowed to exceed a safe level, which would be a differential that could cause structural failure of the rock.
But it is conjecture - only the petro-geologist will know what's happening and why.
