"just terrible PR for Lynas" you mean even worse than repeated accusations like "dumping hundreds of tons of toxic waste into the river" etc?
Legal action is a last resort effort by Lynas to bring some reality to the debate before it spirals out of control at a critical point. I doubt they will proceed too far with it provided the NGO's keep the debate factual, as they now appear to be doing with the assistance of the Oz watermelons. Even the SMSL website has toned up considerably in both content & presentation.
