Something that needs to be considered ..

Prior to Lihir coming along, Bendigo was limping along and giving false hope to many small shareholders that some day it was going to make it.
Their management may have actually believed it too, who knows ?
Bendigo would probably still be around today and still losing money and perpetuating the same false hope year after year - had Lihir not come along and made it clear, in a short space of time, that the mine was a no-goer.

Lihir chose Bendigo at the time - had Lihir chosen CTO maybe CTO may not be similarly limping along today, and giving the same false hopes, year after year.
