I would be too scared to invest in property now, mainly due to the duration of cycles.
when prices softened in the 70's it lasted 10 years,
when it boomed in the 80's it lasted 7 years
when it softened in the 90's it lasted 8 years
when it boomed this time round it lasted 13 years and i think the run is over now.
if you buy now there is a good chance in 10 years it will be the same as what you paid for it. except you have paid interest on that amount for 10 years.
saving into a high interest fixed term account probably would be more profitable for now untill the down cycle ends.
