As with many other products of a pioneering nature developed in Australia, if MST becomes successful, it is likely that it will come under control of US or European (or maybe Singapore?) interests, then the products will be sold back to Aus at a large premium. Unfortunately, this is a fact of life.

For the most part we (aus) are really still financially a minnow to be made use of and swallowed by the businesses in the bigger economies where appropriate. The govt could do something about this but whatever vision they do have is aimed only at popular support in the short term, so they don't and in the end we are all worse off for it.
