The short sellers have been here for a long time now. As of last Friday the 8th for instance, we had more than 10 million shares shorted and uncovered. That is a fair amount of shorting in anyone's language. And it appears that they are not making any attempts at reducing that amount of shorting either.

IMHO, only a boomer of an announcement will possibly get them to do something about it, but until then, we will continue to suffer the consequences of a long silence.
