    In a perfect world , yes.

    But we are not talking about harvesting timber for structural purposes that continue to sequester the carbon for years. We are talking about trees turned into boiler feed.

    Btw. Plantation timber is not processed quite in the way you suggest. The bark isn't turned to mulch. The branches aren't woodchipped. All the waste from that type of plantation is burnt on site. Then of course there is the lack of diversity in those plantations as well.
