Its a great itinerary but only covers part of Aus, to cover it all - you really need 6 months and that wouldn't be with too many 2-3 night stays in one place, 9 months is better and a year more realistic.
Its a BIG, BIG country and an amazingly welcoming one but you need to speak to locals not the tourist companies.
The area of deGreys interest is simply amazing yet incredibly harsh landscape but just part of the gold reserves in this country. A visit here could expose you to many more opportunities and simply amazing people too!
