Employment quotas only lead to less productivity when the best qualified don't get the job.

    An example,

My son took a Government services role in Transport and Logistics, He was headhunted from the Private sector.

He was handpicked as there were two jobs as Operations Manager to be filled in three months time, when it came time for the applications he was told he had missed out on one of the roles, as one was given to a senior employee (my son is only 35) and the other had to be filled by a female.

Management told him that their hands were tied, but they were prepared to pay him the same money, and for him to support the female Ops Manager.

OK he said, no problem. It turns out she was well out of her depth and he was very busy supporting her.

There should be no gender pay gap, but until we have employment on merit, we are going backwards.

The upside is that because he played the game nicely, he was recently promoted above both of the Ops Managers.
