Just finished reading another angle on the Lynas misadventure.
There is ethnic tensions between the Malays, Chinese, Indians and has been for a long time.
The author argues that the Malays have calculated that the east coast where Lynas is will attract foreign investment in the billions. This drives up land costs, skills, DOLLARS for the area. But not for the Chinese ethic groups in the East Coast areas.
The quote "LYNAS factory provides many useful impact for the Malays. Lynas factory boost for the economy of the Malays. DAP Chinese nation scared, they fear the rise of the Malays in the state and the East Coast."
So maybe the Chinese are the bad guys after all.
