I noticed the basis of your trendline is based on the two initial peaks (where you put the first two yellow arrows), other technicians say the trendline should continuously be updated based on the latest peaks, and disregard the older peaks if a linear line cannot be formed?? Which one is the correct way?
Thanks I'll check out his channel. I've actually been watching countless videos on TA in recent weeks, I've formed a theory that all the standard indicators don't work anymore because everyone is looking at them. There's a video of a guy who tested indicators like MACD and RSI 65,000 times over 50 years on different settings, and they beat buy-and-hold strategy until 2000, where they since then consistently underperformed the market, the theory is with popularity of trading software everyone is looking at the same thing, so the edge has been eroded. This is also confirmed by other research (http://www.abacjournal.au.edu/2001/may01/refined.pdf) for example MACD was only successful 33% of the time (interesting thought - why not flip that and get 70% success rate by trading in opposite direction??).
This extends to channels and trendlines too if they're very obvious. In the case of FLC, many people can see there is gap to be filled between 22.5 and 19c, setting the next support at 19c. Because of how obvious it is, I would disregard it as invalid in terms of reliability as entry signal. If one has an extremely bullish view on the stock, entering now or waiting for 19cent support is as good as flipping a coin. What do you think?
Haven't used RVI, sounds like ADX I'll check it out. I also use Ultimate Oscillator, I find it an interesting indicator that measures price across three different time frames. For volume I find Price Volume Oscillator somewhat useful for looking for price divergence. Like you said though, all these just reference, I haven't found a way to combine them into a reliable trading system without taking account the fundamentals, and I'm pretty certain I never will!
