slick, the price incorporates all the factors acting on the company and is a singular reflection of business performance, by extension TA examines business performance through price action. However SOI often have nothing to do with business performance, for example a stock split is to create more liquidity in the market and a 2:1 stock split will result in SP reduce by 50%, on the chart the price will turn bearish indicating negative investor sentiment, is that really so? Conversely, if a company with no growth buys back 50% of its stock for a few weeks, through financial engineering the stock price goes up as a result, one can look at the chart and obviously its bullish, but is it really so, what happens when the company stops the buy-back? Anyhow imo TA trendlines is more effective with commodities and forex trading where volume is non-existent, with equities when using trendlines its not so simplistic. Happy to be corrected, this is just my observation.
