I think you will find that Buds are being replaced with Boosts for two reasons:
(i) There is no more stock of Buds
(ii) There are plenty of paid for Boosts in inventory which now are not the primary product

I certainly hope that they do NOT upgrade Boosts to the MAX on any warranty claims - at least not in the next few years!
Plenty of reasons there:
(i) We have a stack of Boosts in inventory
(ii) The money to make Boosts that are inventory is already spent
(iii) We have a shortage of MAX
(iv) New money would need to be spent making them
(v) It would remove the need for that person to upgrade
