Yes I do admit it's dot joining but in relation to engines SMN technology does apply to that area. If your able to find the slideshow that was deleted you will find on slide 15 an application for the engine skin panel on a DC-10. There are other parts to engines that do not necessary move , i.e the housing and framework.
What I find interesting is what everyone is not accounting for, the slideshow also states that there are another 14 patents pending. I assume it has to do with the new sensors being developed that sense corrosion beneath layers of paint, also the new sensors to detect delamination between layers and disbanding of joints.
