I would be wary of GrainCorp getting into the rural merchandising business again. Noted for tight margins and plenty of competition for supply of agricultural inputs.
That was the reason Wesfarmers exited the Landmark business 20 years ago - poor return on capital compared to other parts of their business. I think Ridley would be a better fit - stock feed compounding would provide some synergies for GNC.
