It's also likely that one would not be fortunate enough to attract the attention of a genuine Sufi unless those prerequisites were already well established and active and not a means for closing off "mystery and wonder".
"Sufism" like most things that end in "ism" is a large net and as such catches lots that are returned to the ocean.
