Since RC’s exit CTP have failed to lobby for further gas market reforms, transportation cost reductions, and price signal corrections to encourage exploration and production in the NT. We should be beating the drum since this crisis is even more real now and I can almost guarantee RC would be doing so like a champion

Why wasn’t $200- $500M pumped into the Moomba link?

This demand destruction is totally mental and this report (see link below) sums up the situation well. Essentially the message is how dumb is our government when, in order to be competitive globally with our highest in world labour costs - we need cheapest in world energy!

Save money now to hurt country badly in a few years or spend a little now to pave the way to a strong future with cheap manufacturing and goods. HOW?  GET A NATIONAL NG PIPE SYSTEM SORTED

    An excerpt below:

    A 25
per cent increase in both domestic gas and wholesale generation prices would lead to a 27 per cent decline in the output of Australia’s chemical, rubber and plastic industries. These price hikes would also likely cause an annual economic loss of some A$19 billion, an amount equal to how much Australia gained from foreign students in 2015, Australia’s third largest export.

$6-7/GJ is perhaps a good target price for NG in Australia. For CTP gas to be economic at this rate we probably need 50% further reduction in pipe tariffs. If LNG price falls below $10 CTP might struggle.
