OZ Minerals has a $A1bn acquisitions war chest, and it will target copper projects of between 50,000 and 150,000 tonnes per annum. CEO Terry Burgess says the uncertainty created by the proposed tax on mining profits will make it more difficult for the group to expand its Prominent Hill Mine in South Australia. He also concedes that OZ itself could become a takeover target due to the impact that the downturn in copper prices has had on asset values.
