How awesome are American elections?
They have got to be one of the most entertaining things that I know of. People here get so wound up about which puppet is in the chair as if it matters, which it certainly doesn't. First we have the theater and show of the run up to polling day, with all the bread and circuses and then we have the postmortems as to why one candidate is better than the other.
I thought Trumpmeister and crooked Hilary was a good show but this year has been fantastic, beating the last election by a big margin for pure drama and bullshit.
If you haven't worked out by now that the President doesn't control the show then you never will. The President has a certain degree of autonomy but the the big calls are made by other parties who hold the real power and influence to achieve their own ends.
It's all about the control of the masses.
My only sadness is that I have to wait for about another three years before the cycle gets going again. I do think this year's show is going to be hard to beat.
