….and that is exactly why sourcing Lithium from a low impurities source and using a DLE process that selectively targets the Lithium in the brine is so important. Impurities in lower quality BG Lithium have been known to be the source of issues in things like lower battery lifecycle and the inability to fast charge some batteries. The impurities result in dendrite formation and growth which then effectively ends up shorting the layers within the structure of the battery….sometimes causing these fires.
Using a Lithium with very low impurities will result in a longer life battery as well as allowing faster charging rates without the risk of fires. This will make the likes of VUL (along with others with both low impurities in the source brine AND the use of the selective DLE process) the preferred choices for batteries to be used in higher end EV’s.
