"Back on topic..... I appreciate that CSL has been sold down recently to what I consider below fair value, but has anyone got an idea why it rose so strongly today on what appears to be no news and in reality a fairly mediocre rise in the market ?"
For a stock price to fall a few percentage points after having risen by 25% in the preceding 12 months is quite normal, I think.
Besides, I wouldn't classify a company whose equity is valued in the market by 38x P/E and ~27x EV/EBITDA as being "below fair value", no matter how good quality such a business is.
