They would have known the deal was about to fall into line before NW got the push, so this is possibly an 'ice breaker' to get the cred of the new CEO up. Along the lines of what SoT was suggesting.
Agree with Andrew though that this is a rather a poor announcement. Lack of detail, especially around cash and the commercial opportunities / human story. For example, does this mean they're going to be working on drugs to get rid of staph, etc.. in hospitals? If so, wouldn't this be important? Could this could be yet another 'under sold' piece of work like the last 2 announcements?
