    "Treat The Symptoms"

In my years of active work in this area it was always apparent to me,
that has mostly been the only way these issues are managed.
Mainly due to cost and convenience.

Very little apart from token effort is devoted to managing the cause.
    In truth many (multifactorial) causes.

The patient is medicated, given some brief respite, symptoms abated, considered 'recovered'
if not 'cured', and chucked back into the 'old faces and places from whence they came, with little
    or no gained insight.
The fortunate ones, by some happenstance, may come across a person, or set of ideas, that
may bring about a 'transformation' or 'miracle'.

The colleagues I worked with in treatment teams were almost without exception sincere and compassionate people
who came up against the limits of the system in terms of costs, time, manpower, and complexity.

Less of these treatment options would be necessary in a society with good social support, and genuine care.
Alienation, abuse, alcohol/drugs, and a dog-eat-dog social structure are among the causes, made ten times
worse by our thoroughly toxic so-called social media.
It really should be called Anti-Social media.
Unfortunately, I, to my great shame occasionally succumb, you can sometimes find me on HC
Politics and Religion Forums, ably demonstrating that!

    Cheers, good people.
