Had a similar experience but I never tried to neck myself.
I also had a marriage break up and my son was taken to live 2 states away and I was told I could only see him at xmas and big public holidays. I had to quit my career to move interstate so I could be near my son. In doing so I lost my career and then I lost a house and other things etc etc. What do you do after 20 years in a career in one place? I couldn't take anti depressants because of adverse reactions.

Anyway I took it a day at a time literally. Now things have changed as things always change and my last child has now nearly finished his Uni degree and I have enough money.

The problem with marriage break up etc is there is very little if any real help for the male of the marriage. He is just left to his own devices and that means focussing on the problem of the moment and believing it will never change. Everything changes, nothing stays the same for long.

Anyway Im glad to hear your coping well.

    Cheers
