I guess he's focussed on that. Perhaps he could temporarily change his focus. Try embracing being broke and jobless. One of it's greatest benefits is the gift of time. After all, this may be the only time in his life when he has this experience. Go with it, enjoy it while they can, it won't last. Nothing ever does.

Don't worry so much alan. When a small child falls over and loses some bark, if we rush in full of concern and maybe some panic, the child will respond the same, and suffer for it. Hold yourself back a bit, go calmly, even though you may not feel calm. Let your strength and good humour rub off on them. Allow them to see this is not such a big deal.
