Depression can start with a little cry in the garden each morning. I don't know what advice to give except maybe go to your doctor and tell him how you're feeling. Get yourself right first, then worry about your daughter and son inlaw.
The son inlaw needs professional help. I doubt getting a high paying job will solve anything. He will just want more and more.
