LOL its tended to be Labor govt’s that introduced low cost land and grants to encourage home ownership. Since it was left to the market the net result is developers getting richer, rents getting higher and home ownership beyond the reach of a greater proportion of people. Linked in with that is the fact that wages have stagnated compared to the inflated increase in cost of homes. Private enterprise predominantly controls the housing market and the net result is the situation we have now. Thats a very different proposition to that which you have just spun. The reality is that now our houses and apartment blocks are even being bought by overseas entities further inflating prices. The market based system has failed those wanting to buy their first home.
