Nothing new about biochar but the key to any additive is the cost of t. What does it cost to heat for 2 hours oxygen free to process coffee grounds to create biochar.

Coffee grounds are being recycled into composts , worm farm bioreactors and other products in different quantities without the energy input required.

Any biomass can be burnt to creat biochar ( charcoal) so I have no idea is coffee grounds have a particular benefit as opposed to forrestry waste and since biochar has great value being put on broadacre agriculture land and gatting carbon credits for that application it will be interesting which ebergy source ( wind solar) etc is used to create it.

Great to see innovation and since they are only stating it is possibly slowing curing and no long term studies the thought of going to industry , councils etc etc before they know long term properties and fully understand physicala nd chemistry it is just a researcher getting his name up in lights IMO. Who knows might progress to a listed company spruiking a process and claiming better concrete - wonder how that would sell and how long for industry to adopt.?
