Sounds a bit like my big effort to make a bombe Vesuvius - first came the practice and was stone cold sober. Perfection -
with the eggshell on top filled with brandy and flowing down the sides. Took it to the table and managed not to burn myself or
the other half. LOL
The following week and had guests to impress and did a little drinking and must have put it on the wrong oven shelf
or on the wrong temperature. I was on the kitchen floor cackling away as a scraped bits off the oven floor and tried
to reassemble the thing.
Managed to burn a good serving cloth I used to carry it to the table with to protect my hands but laughed and put my head
down as I did and managed to set my hair on fire. I just could not stop laughing as others patted out the flames on my
head.
Only ever made 2 bombe Vesuvius's and no never again. The fact that I didn't scar myself was a miracle.
