Hi Ozexplorer and all,
I assume you are taking the Mick when you talk about a pro-active progressive council or do you live in Norway or some place?
Unfortunately these brain dead types that work for the council just don’t care about their actions. As you enter the Brisbane Southbank area there are large electronic display signs now showing in bright green that there are 600 / 700 empty car park spaces at all times of the day.
I would like to think that as the business’s collapse and less rates / tax is collected that these Wally’s jobs would be cut back but it doesn’t seem to work that way.
The business owners canvased the council to no avail; they think the higher priced empty car park spaces will increase revenue. These are the same people that tried to tell me how many cars would be going through the Brisbane tunnels when they were trying to sell the idea.
As the mining boom has ended, the nickel refinery, steel works and refrigeration plants are closed I understood we were going to survive by selling each other cups of coffee and now this bunch of halfwits are killing off that avenue. The restaurants and small bars also provide jobs for the students in the area as we have several colleges so it will feed in there as well.
Now I have to get the car out and drive over to Rosalie complete with free parking to get my sashimi.
I was thinking about putting up the money to send our local council over to Detroit to see how they are going to make Brisbane look in a few years’ time. I wonder if they will accept one way tickets though!
Cheers and very best regards: Andy
