I think this " buy stocks you understand" theory is overrated.
I mean, only geos really understand exploration results, only biochemits understand a biotech stock, and so on. Even then, you have to work in the actual stock itself to really understand it.
What matters, IMO, is a good understanding of where the type of stock you are buying fits in the investment universe.
