Question: Is this something?.........
Dot joining on some quick rough and ready research:
Circle8 Clean Technologies is registered as MGX Enterprise Pty Ltd (Circle8 Clean Technologies - Vision is to optimise resource usage and keep resources within the Circular Econ | NSW (sydneystartuphub.com)).
Although Circle8 are a Perth company as stated on their website (Circle8 Clean Technologies) their founder Warren Sare is Sydney based ((31) Warren S. | LinkedIn).
University of Technology Sydney has partnered up with Circle8 in Smart Bin Development in 2022 (University of Technology Sydney (uts.edu.au)).
This research is led by Ren Ping Liu (Profile found here: Ren Ping Liu Profile | University of Technology Sydney (uts.edu.au)). In this profile page there is a link to "SmartBin.Tech". This research is led by Professor Liu on behalf of UTS and in partnership with the CSIRO (SmartBin.Tech). This page mentions AI image processing as an 'innovative technology that has been developed'.
A video demonstration of the AI Imaging processing that segregates bottles by material type is shown here: SmartBin.Tech.
Proof of concept article is found here: ‘Smart Bin’ prototype sorts out waste stream contamination - WMR (wastemanagementreview.com.au).
From the research and links above........
Brainchip is working with Circle8 --> Circle8 is partnered with UTS --> UTS is partnered with CSIRO for a waste management project --> Together they have developed a working prototype of an AI powered SmartBin.
Questions that remain unanswered:
- At what stage is the SmartBin at commercially?
- Is there a potential customer driving from this Smartbin to be fabricated and rolled out?
- If they can get the cost of the bin down so that there is a reasonable value proposition for potential customers (i.e. shopping centres, local councils, public transport authorities etc.), what does the addressable market look like and whats the potential uptake?
- Given that the CSIRO is aware of Akida - would they now want to apply it elsewhere in their projects?
- And the big question: Does this all translate into revenue/sales and what is the likely time frame?
