In Devon Energys latest presentation,the huge mostly untapped potential of the permian basin is discussed.
On page 87 of the presentation the following are highlighted.
1)Greater than "50" potential play types exist in the basin.
2)Horozontal potential in the early stages of EVALUATION.
3)Many PLAY TYPES YET to be characterised.
Devon clearly dont realise how big this basin is going to be and how many zones will have commercial potential.
Every acre within this basin will be highly valuable regardless of current or previous production.The chances are that for much of the basin the true production potential may not have,or only beginning to be realised perhaps in a previously unrecognised zone.
I will be very surprised over the next few years if anywhere within the greater permian basin dosent have multiple, commercial, oil/liquid production potential.
One of the greatest producing basins in North America appears to be unleashing the perfect storm for E&P companies,landholders and industry participants alike.
