Your recollection of CHK looking to offload gas assets is what I recall also. I suspect however that wanting to get out of something because the commodity price is low also results in low asset valuations and a general lack of interest. It may well be that wanting to get out and actually being able to offload that many positions are two very different things. Shorter term they may have decided that selling something else where buyers are plentiful is the easier option while they search for buyers for gas assets.
