"I can guarantee another meltdown will happen in less than 1000 years time"

    How Roocus?

In looking at probability and consequence, it is seemingly universally accepted nuclear accidents are very high consequence and very low probability events.

Add in one caused by an earthquake and ensuing massive Tsunami and the probability of an event like this occurring decreases dramatically.

Plenty of evidence of devastating Tsunamis, however I can't find one nuclear accident like Fukushima. Power plant knocked out by a Tsunami. If you or anyone else would be so kind as to point me to it I would like to read all about it.

Despite this, with the benefit of both hindsight and other information I have now read about this and other aspect of nuclear safety. It is clear now to me that a Tsunami could have been foreseen (based on historical major Tsunami events). Also it is clear that the diesel plants were highly likely to be flooded in the event of a Tsunami. The latter risk was identified my regulators years previously it now seems.

However I won't point the finger only at Tepco for not acting on past concerns. Why is it that there were zero controls in place to prevent what happened away from the plant killing thousands? It is a known event, it has occurred elsewhere yet authorities sat on their behinds and did nothing leading up to the event.

I also am certain based on historical evidence we will see another major Tsunami with devastating outcomes. I am not as convinced we will see another nuclear plant accident like this caused by a Tsunami. If we do the book should be thrown at both the operators and the regulators for both incompetence and lack of action.

As we have never seen an accident like this previously (Tsunami causing nuclear plant failure), please correct me if wrong, then I place this squarely in the 1:1000 year event category.

Plenty of Tsunamis and also evidence of nuclear accidents. Please can anyone show me where they are connected occurrences historically that would make this a higher probability event? I can't...
