Yes, lithium-ion batteries are the next 10 years of EV design. People talk about changing battery chemistry, with cobalt being reduced and nickel increased, 6:2:2 to 8:1:1, but even those improvements are years away. What we could see is nickel sulphide prices rise, just as cobalt sulphate peaks and/ or drops back, be it from a high level. Half of the worlds Nickel production is not suitable for EV battery production. So this market will split and diverge at some point. The new LME comtracts might help this along.
